Kite Beach is Cape Towns most common kiting spot, hence the name. Situated just down the road from Dolphin Beach hotel, opposite Best Kiteboarding and KFC, this beach become the local spot for Kite surfing beginners and kite surfing lessons alike. The winds here tend to be a little less strong as Dolphin Beach on a SE as it is protected by the tall buildings along the beach front of blouberg. Kite Beach offers an all round kiting experience from beginners to Wake style riders and Wave riders. In season you will see a variety of kiteboarders ripping up the waters. NB: Kite Beach can often become very over crowed and extra caution needs to be exercised for novice riders. Best months: September – March Wind on high-season: 18-34 Knots
Muizenberg is really fun with the SE blowing which blows almost onshore. The beach has no protection from the Cape Peninsula, so the atlantic swell breaks directly onto the beach, which means bigger waves, but the waves are not very consistent and can often be very choppy. The water is generally very murky but warm. Best months: September – March Wind on high-season: 16-25 Knots
The wind is generally stronger at Sunset Beach than Blouberg Beach. If you get there and the place is completely blown out, you might want to head to Kite Beach further down the road, where you could have a far more relaxed session. Sunset Beach can get rather gusty on a SE close to the shore. Its always fun starting your downwinder from Sunset Beach and head off towards kite Beach or going a bit further to Big Bay. Best months: September – March Wind on high-season: 18-34 Knots
